General Members
Qualified General Members will:
Posses a U.S. degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or a recognized International equivalent to a U.S. MD or DO degree;
Be accepted by the Board of Trustees after a favorable evaluation of the candidate’s ethics, professional status, and professional activities at the time of the application for membership.

Attendance to all meetings of the USMA;
Eligible to seek election to serve as a voting member of the House of Delegates (HOD);
Eligible to vote for the election of Delegates to the HOD;
Exclusive CME products;
Exclusive CME business support products;
Participation in shaping USMA positions on public policy, medical education, maintenance of certification, and scope of practice.
Residents and Fellows
Qualified Residents and Fellows will:
Be currently pursuing a U.S. degree (enrolled) as a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine;
Be accepted by the Board of Trustees after a favorable evaluation of the candidate’s ethics, professional status, and professional activities at the time of the application for membership.

International Members
A physician who has graduated from a medical school listed in the World Health Organization Directory and possesses a valid license in good standing in the country where he or she resides may apply for international membership. Upon the submission of an application for international membership, the Board shall make reasonable efforts to evaluate the applicant’s character, ethics, professional status and professional activities. When possible, the Board shall open opportunities for those familiar with the applicant to voice objections to acceptance. The Board may consider information pertaining to the applicant’s character, ethics, professional status and professional activities when considering his or her fitness for membership. The board shall provide notification to the applicant of the disposition of his or her application as soon as practical.
